RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Staff recommends approval of the proposed right-of-way abandonment.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Staff received a request to abandon a portion of an unnamed alley located on the east side of Sherman Street and the west side of Coleman Street, approximately 150 feet south of Berry Avenue.
• The right-of-way consists of an area 10 feet wide extending from Sherman Street to 280 feet east, and containing approximately 0.065 acres.
• A drainage easement will be retained over the entire area of the abandonment to allow for the passage of surface drainage.
• Public hearing notices were sent to all property owners within 200 feet of the requested abandonment, and a legal notice was published in the McKinney Courier-Gazette. As of March 2, 2022, staff has received no comments in support of or opposition to this request.
• All owners adjacent to the right-of-way have signed a petition supporting the requested abandonment.

• An application and supporting documentation for the requested abandonment were submitted on January 20, 2022.
