RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution

ITEM SUMMARY:
* The Resolution authorizes the Interim City Manager to execute a contract in the amount of $80,500.00 with Kimley Horn Inc., as well as all required supplemental agreements for the design of Lanes 3 and 4 of Trinity Falls Parkway from Laud Howell Parkway Extending Approximately 1,500 Feet East as shown on the attached map. The aggregate contract amount, including any supplemental agreements is not to exceed $90,000.00.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Castle Hills, the developer of Trinity Falls Subdivision, has engaged Kimley Horn to design Trinity Falls Parkway from FM 543 to the existing connection to Laud Howell Parkway.
* Trinity Falls Parkway will be four lanes with a median, as is Laud Howell Parkway.
* The existing connection between Laud Howell and Trinity Falls is a two lane road, and the City is responsible for any desired upgrades.
* Kimley Horn is well qualified to design the roadway and since they were already engaged in the design of Trinity Falls Parkway, staff requested them to submit a proposal to design the connection to Laud Howell Parkway.
* Kimley Horn submitted a proposed fee as follows:
o Basic Design Fee $75,500.00
o Construction Monitoring $ 5,000.00
The basic fee represents 11.98% of the estimated $630,000.00 construction cost. The total fee is 12.78% of the estimate.
