ITEM SUMMARY:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Habitat for Humanity of Collin County has been building homes for working, low-income families since its incorporation in 1992.

HHCC serves a 24-city area in Collin County.

HFHCC utilizes a two-pronged initiative for low-income families: construction of new homes; and exterior home repairs.

MCDC has previously awarded grant funds totaling $500,000 for the Amenity Center. ($250,000 awarded on February 27, 2020, with Project #20-03 and an additional $250,000 awarded on February 25, 2021, as an amendment to Project #20-03.)

This additional funding is being requested due to significant increases in the cost of lumber, steel, softwoods and plumbing.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Funds allocated for MCDC discretionary project grants for FY21 was $1,530,105.

Remaining funds allocated for FY21 for discretionary Project Grants is $865,667.44.

The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 505.153 of the Texas Local Government Code.
