RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Resolution lets our legislators and transportation officials know how vitally important US 75 is to transportation into and out of the DFW Metroplex and provides support to the request for a separate study on necessary improvements along the US 75 corridor.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· Attached is a letter from Judge Keith Self sent to Mayor Loughmiller asking the City of McKinney to support a request for a separate study on necessary improvements along the US 75 corridor.
· In the letter from Judge Self he has indicated US 75 carries more traffic than any other major highway into or out of the DFW Metroplex; US 75 just north of I-635 carries 275,00 vehicles per day and the roadway with the second highest traffic count is I-35 just north of I-635, with 204,000 vehicles per day.
· Judge Self is a member of the I-35 Corridor Segment 1 Committee which is a working in conjunction with the overall I-35 Corridor Advisory Committee formed to develop a mobility blueprint for the 500-mile section of I-35 between Gainesville and Laredo.
· The I-35 Corridor Segment 1 Committee is currently finalizing their report and will present it to the full I-35 Corridor Advisory Committee.
· According to Judge Self, one of the strong recommendations in the I-35 Corridor Segment 1 Committee report will be to conduct a separate study of improvements on US 75 necessary to carry the already tremendous and ever-increasing volume of traffic.
· In a few months, after all of the individual I-35 segment reports are consolidated into the overall mobility blueprint for the I-35 corridor from Gainesville to Laredo, the mobility blueprint will be presented to the Tran...
