ITEM SUMMARY:
* Parks and Recreation staff will lead a discussion and workshop session related to the various master planning options at Old Settler's Park. Feedback from this session will be utilized by the design team for incorporation into their planning efforts.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The Old Settler's Aquatic and Park Renovation Project (PK2041) is a FY19-20 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC in an amount of $1,500,000. The final budget is to be determined through this master planning process and programmed to be funded using 2019 authorized bonds.

* Old Settler's Park was built in 1960 with elements that included a playground, picnic shelter and the Mouzon ballfields. The playground was updated in 1998 and the latest renovations to the ballfields occurred in 2004. The Aquatic Facility was built in 2003 and has not had any major upgrades.

* The master plan will focus on full redevelopment of the entire park with strategies of phasing incorporated into the plan. Park elements that are being considered, but are not limited to, are athletic fields (baseball/softball, basketball, futsal, tennis/pickleball, and multi-purpose fields), facilities (aquatic facility/splash park, concession/restroom, food truck area, covered courts, and additional park shelters), trails, additional parking and vehicle connections, and miscellaneous improvements.

* In October of 2019, City Council approved a professional services contract for master planning services with Shrickel Rollins / PSC, Inc., of Arlington, Texas.
