ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Ordinance amends the locations of loading zones in the Downtown area, and designates three-hour parking as follows:
? Remove the loading zone designations at the following locations:
? North side of Virginia Street east of Tennessee Street.
? South Side of Virginia Street west of Johnson Street.
? West side of Kentucky Street south of Herndon Street.
? Add a designation for three-hour parking for the following locations:
? Along the north and south sides of Virginia Street between Chestnut and McDonald Street (SH5).
? Along the north and south sides of Virginia Street between Church Street and Wood Street.
? Along the north and south sides of Louisiana Street between Church Street and Wood Street.
? Along the east and west sides of Kentucky Street between Cloyd Street and Davis Street.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The current construction project on Virginia Street and Kentucky Street is modifying the parking spaces in the Downtown area.
* Because of the change to parking spaces added with the project, Staff reviewed the current parking and loading zone ordinances for any needed modifications.
* Engineering staff has worked with Main Street staff and property owners on the proposed changes.
