ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     In advance of the Housing Needs Assessment, and in response to discussion at the Council Strategic Planning session, staff has begun research on housing development incentives.

                     There are several example types of development incentives used to achieve attainable housing by other units of government. These include: zoning regulations, density bonuses, fee-in-lieu programs, waived fees and more.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     In response to RFQ 19-62RFQ, Council approved a contract with Root Policy Research to complete a “Housing Needs Assessment” to provide an inventory of existing sale and rental housing, as well as make recommendations to City housing policies and Ordinances, to better meet current and future market conditions.

                     The Housing Needs Assessment will be complete in early fall 2020.

                     This is an informational item that will supplement the data and recommendations included in the final study.
