RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
- Identify and discuss the issues surrounding the redevelopment of City-owned properties in Downtown McKinney.
ITEM SUMMARY:
- On May 7, 2013, the City Council unanimously approved a motion to indefinitely table action on the Downtown RFP (case number 13-081M) in order to fully identify and discuss outstanding issues prior to entering into a public-private partnership(s) to redevelop City-owned downtown properties.
- At the May 7, 2013 meeting, three concerns were expressed by the City Council:
- What residential density is appropriate for Downtown McKinney?
- What site is best suited to accommodate a future municipal building(s)?
- Resolution to the Gateway project is necessary prior to moving forward with the redevelopment of City-owned downtown properties.
- Staff is hoping to identify any additional issues or concerns that need to be researched and discussed prior to moving forward with the redevelopment of City-owned downtown properties.
- Once all of the issues and concerns are identified, Staff will research and analyze the concerns and bring the findings back to the City Council for further discussion.
