RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of the Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Ordinance abandons the City-maintained portion of County Road 160 (CR 160) between US Highway 380 and Wilmeth Road.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· CR 160 is an unimproved road that was barricaded in December of 2011 due to lack of use and the high cost of maintenance.
· The total length of the roadway is approximately 0.9 miles. The City of McKinney is responsible for the portion that has been annexed (approximately 450 feet) and the County maintains the remaining length (approximately 4,350 feet).
· This Ordinance abandons the right-of-way, but retains a utility easement, along the portion incorporated by the City.
· Collin County is in the process of abandoning the unincorporated section of the road.
· This proposed abandonment has been discussed with the property owners of the adjacent tract and they have each signed a petition requesting the road closure.
