RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approve the resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract with Alliance Geotechnical Group to provide material testing services related to the construction of the Gabe Nesbitt Tennis Center Expansion Project in the amount of $104,289.00 and not to exceed $110,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Alliance Geotechnical Group is a consulting engineering and construction materials testing firm serving the northern DFW communities. They have been selected from the City’s approved vendor pool for construction material testing services.

 

                     The City employs the services of an engineering testing laboratory to observe the contractor’s work by making certain inspections and to sample and test that the materials being used meet the plans and specifications.

 

                     This project includes the addition of 12 new tennis courts, a satellite maintenance building with public restrooms, trails, additional parking, playgrounds, shade structures and landscaping throughout.

 

                     In a concurrent agenda item, staff will also be bringing forward a recommendation to award a contract for construction of this project.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Gabe Nesbitt Tennis Expansion Project (PK4396) is a FY13-14 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and Parkland Dedication Funds Zone 3.
