ITEM SUMMARY:
* The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting funds in the amount of $5,500,000 for construction of various improvements at Erwin Park which include:
o New restrooms and pavilions
o Showers
o Concrete trails around the perimeter park road
o Enhanced entrance feature
o Lookout tower
o Concrete parking
o ADA improvements
o Park road resurfacing
o Utility improvements
* Restrooms converted from septic to sanitary sewer
* Water and electricity to all camp sites
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Erwin Park is part of the 10-year CIP and this project will provide much needed amenities and renovations to one of our busiest parks.
* The Parks Master Plan, approved in 2017 and updated in 2022, identifies areas of deficit, provides a vision for addressing growth and provides a plan for immediate and long-term park, park facilities and trail improvement needs.
* The Parks Master Plan was utilized in identifying projects for this FY 24-25 grant application.
* The project promotes park developments that will enhance the quality of life for McKinney residents.
