MEETING DATE: February 15, 2011

RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into a Local Project Advance Funding Agreement (LPAFA) with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to furnish required traffic signal equipment along US 75 from Spur 399 to US 380 during the reconstruction of US 75, for an amount not to exceed $128,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· TxDOT has the financial responsibility for the installation and maintenance of the traffic signals at the intersections along US 75; however, the actual maintenance is provided by and coordinated by the City of McKinney, with TxDOT reimbursing the City for all costs.
· During the reconstruction of US 75, temporary traffic signals and new traffic signals will be required to provide appropriate traffic control at the intersections.
· The temporary traffic signals will be installed during various phases of the construction and the new signals will be installed in locations to accommodate the new roadway configuration.
· Because the City of McKinney maintains the signals it is our preference for TxDOT to use equipment that matches our system; therefore, we will furnish the traffic signal cabinet, controller, video detection, and other miscellaneous equipment as part of this agreement.
· The US 75 reconstruction project from Spur 399 to US 380 is scheduled to be let in March 2011 with actual construction beginning later in the year and being completed in 2014
