ITEM SUMMARY:
· The City of McKinney provides School Resource Officers (SRO) to the McKinney Independent School District (MISD).
· There will be ten (10) licensed police officers and one (1) Sergeant assigned to MISD.
· The cost of the SROs is shared 50% to both MISD and the City of McKinney.
· The cost of the SRO Sergeant is covered 100% by MISD
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· The prior year's (2014-15) contract provided a 50% cost share with MISD based on the nine (9) month cost of Officers and Sergeants. The new contract provides for 50% cost sharing based on the twelve (12) month cost of officers and 100% cost paid by MISD based on twelve month cost of sergeants.
· The prior year's contract called for nine (9) Officers and two (2) Sergeants. The new contract calls for ten (10) Officers and (1) Sergeant. An additional Officer is placed in the High Schools. Should more officers be added to the SRO program, the new contract stipulates that a sergeant will also be added.
