RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
Approve the attached Ordinance adopting the 2012 International Property Maintenance Code as the property maintenance code for the City of McKinney, Texas.
ITEM SUMMARY:
Chapter 122 changes -
* The Building Inspection department conducted the 2013 and 2014 annual Multi-family and Hotel/Motel property inspections under the adopted 2003 International Property Maintenance Code and recommends the adoption of the 2012 International Property Maintenance Code to ensure that current codes are consistently applied and quality inspections are performed on all buildings.
Chapter 126 changes -
* The Housing and Substandard Structures referenced code is currently the 1994 Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings. The proposed change of referenced code to the 2012 International Property Maintenance Code will also ensure that current codes are consistently applied and quality inspections are performed on all buildings identified as substandard structures.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The City of McKinney adopted the International Code Council's full set of 2012 International Codes on July 16, 2013 which applies to all construction under permit requirements in the city.
