RECOMMENDED ACTION:
* Recommend that City Council approve a resolution for construction.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This project will consist of converting several natural grass fields to synthetic turf, constructing a restroom/storage building, new fencing, entrance enhancements, adding shade for participants and spectators and adding pedestrian trail connectivity.
* These proposed improvements will implement a portion of the new the Master Plan for the soccer complex that will assist in creating a premier sports complex.
* Additionally, the conversion from grass to turf will greatly increase the playability of the fields and increase tournament capabilities.
* On July 12th, the City of McKinney received bids for this project. Staff will provide an update at the Board meeting.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The 65 acre soccer complex was constructed in 2005 and includes 13 lit fields (one championship field), 900 parking spaces, concession building with restrooms and an irrigation pond.
* LJA Engineering (formally DCBA) completed the master plan for the overall complex and the design package.
