RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Discuss establishing a policy for median maintenance reimbursement agreements.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• A policy providing for median maintenance reimbursement agreements would establish a method for developing partnerships allowing a private agency to work with the City to help beautify city streets at a higher level than the City can provide.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• On December 1, 2014, City Council approved and authorized execution of a two-year Median Maintenance Agreement with Stonebridge Ranch Community Association, Inc.
• At that meeting, the City Council requested staff prepare a policy providing a formalized method for considering future median maintenance reimbursement agreements.
• The primary purpose of the policy is to allow partnerships between the City and a private entity that benefit the entire community.
• The primary benefit is a higher level of service for landscaping and maintaining public roadways.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• City reimburses private agency a portion of the maintenance cost.
• Defers initial capital investment to private agency.
• Final financial details of future agreements approved by City Council prior to execution.
