ITEM SUMMARY:
• Staff recommends extending the fare subsidy through June 30, 2020 to match the end of the extended contract with DCTA. The 85/15 transit fare subsidy was approved at the August MUTD Board meeting and implemented September 1, 2020. The fare subsidy is scheduled to expire December 31, 2020.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Contract for services with DCTA was set to expire December 31, 2020. The contract has been extended until June 30, 2020.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• CARES Act funding can specifically be used for reducing or eliminating fares as a result of the pandemic. There is 8.8M available and there is no match required. Funds are readily available and no budget amendments are required.
