RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of Resolution ratifying the authorization for the City Manager to accept, if awarded, the FY23 TXDOT Comprehensive STEP Grant.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The FY23 STEP Grant application was submitted January 3, 2022.
• The STEP Grant program pays 80% of the overtime cost for traffic officers to increase enforcement and adjudication of traffic related safety laws.
• The City is applying for grant funding to pay the cost of 748 hours of overtime for traffic enforcement.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The grant is funded by the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT).
• The City has received this grant since 2008.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The total amount of the program is approximately $63,610.00. The grant application is for $50,000.00 and will cover the cost of the overtime and the match is approximately $13,610.00, which is the value of the benefits provided to the officers by the City.
