RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of Resolution for application for, acceptance of a FY13 State Criminal Justice Planning Fund grant, if awarded, from the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The State of Texas awards State Criminal Justice Planning Funds to assist cities in developing projects designed to reduce crime and improve the criminal and juvenile justice systems.
• Staff requests approval for application and acceptance of a FY13 State Criminal Justice Planning Fund grant, if awarded from the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The City of McKinney has been a recipient of this grant for the previous three years.
• The grant funds a majority of the salary for a Child Abuse Investigator.
• This new grant is a three-year grant. Preference is given to current grantees in years two and three of the grant but funding is not guaranteed.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The grant application is for an amount not to exceed $80,000
• Additional funds required in year one are approximately $9,880. This includes uniform, equipment, and training.
