RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                      

                     Approval of Resolution for application for, acceptance of a FY13 State Criminal Justice Planning Fund grant, if awarded, from the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The State of Texas awards State Criminal Justice Planning Funds to assist cities in developing projects designed to reduce crime and improve the criminal and juvenile justice systems.

                     Staff requests approval for application and acceptance of a FY13 State Criminal Justice Planning Fund grant, if awarded from the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The City of McKinney has been a recipient of this grant for the previous three years.

                     The grant funds a majority of the salary for a Child Abuse Investigator.

                     This new grant is a three-year grant. Preference is given to current grantees in years two and three of the grant but funding is not guaranteed.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The grant application is for an amount not to exceed $80,000

                     Additional funds required in year one are approximately $9,880.  This includes uniform, equipment, and training.
