ITEM SUMMARY:   The applicant is requesting an extension of the specific use permit approval in order to allow adequate time to obtain a building permit for a mini-warehouse facility (All Storage at the Shops at Eagle Point). Currently, Section 146-41 (Specific use permits) of the Zoning Ordinance states that a building permit must be obtained within six months of specific use permit approval. The applicant received approval of a specific use permit to allow a self-storage facility on the subject property on December 1, 2015 (Ordinance No. 2015-12-101), which is set to expire on June 1, 2016. With the approval of this extension request, the applicant will have until November 17, 2016 to obtain a building permit. Staff has no objection to the requested extension (see attached letter) and recommends approval of the request.
