RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approve the proposed Resolution authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute the proposed lease extension and modification of terms.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Communications and Marketing Department has been in their existing offices located at 216 N. Tennessee St. since July 2013.

                     The existing lease agreement for that office space is set to expire on June 30, 2016.

                     This lease extension agreement would expire June 2021.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The current facility occupied by the Communications and Marketing Department meets space, storage and functional requirements for the Department, allowing staff to work effectively to conduct city business. Its location adjacent to City Hall is unparalleled in terms of easy access to city management, city meetings, the McKinney Vision production facility and visitor parking necessary to effectively perform Department duties and functions. Extension terms lock in location, manage expenses and keep costs controlled for 5 years.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     Existing monthly lease rate: $2,210

                     Proposed monthly lease rate: $2,632
