ITEM SUMMARY:
• The McKinney Arts Commission has had a member participate in this nine-month long, training program for the past three years.
• On October 6, 2015, City Council approved $3,000 of the Arts Commission budget for Business Council for the Arts. This amount includes funds for an annual membership and one person to attend the Leadership Arts Institute (LAI).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Leadership Arts Institute, through the Business Council for the Arts, offers an arts-centered curriculum that trains community leaders on board roles and responsibilities, fundraising and development, current issues in the Arts, leadership skills and community development.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Of the $3,000 allocated to the Business Council for the Arts, $1,725 has been expended, leaving a balance of $1,275. If the cost of training exceeds $1,275, the balance will be paid from the unused 2016 grant funds awarded to Upstart Productions.
• Cost of the LAI training is $1,325 but the City has traditionally been offered a discounted price of $725.
