ITEM SUMMARY:
· The City of McKinney submitted a grant application in response to the North Central Texas Council of Governments’ Call for Projects for its 2010 Clean Fleet North Texas Program. The submittal requested $38,646 in grant funds to convert three City fleet vehicles (Priuses) to combustion/electric plug-in hybrids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· On October 22, 2010, the City of McKinney submitted a grant application to the North Central Texas Council of Governments for $38,646 as part of their 2010 Call for Grant Applications for the Clean Fleet North Texas Program.
· The North Texas Clean Fleet Program focuses on reducing ozone-causing emissions by encouraging clean-fueled vehicles in city fleets; more than half of ozone related emissions in the Dallas-Fort Worth non-attainment area are caused by cars and trucks.
· The City received a Notice to Proceed (attached), effective February 1, 2011. Should the Council accept the grant, this document gives the City the ability to begin invoicing expenditures related to the conversions for reimbursement up to the full amount of the grant.
· The City based its grant request on a quote from the company doing the largest number of conversions here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and in Austin.
· The twenty-percent matching requirement of the grant will be met by applying the residual value of the three vehicles.
