RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution of Fixed Price Contract 13-19FP.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This item provides the authority to the City Manager to enter into a fixed price contact with Structural and Steel Products to provide traffic signal poles on an as-needed basis.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* On July 25, two bids were received to provide traffic signal poles.
* The bid documents allow the City Manager to award the bid by individual pole type. Therefore, bidders were permitted to bid on any portion of the bid documents.
* Bids were solicited for two types of finish: galvanized and powder coated.
* Galvanized poles have a zinc coating that provides a standard grey finish and powder coated poles provide an appearance of a painted finish.
* Powder coated poles were used in the Downtown Square.
* This contact will be for a period of three years.
* Structural and Steel Products was the only bidder that bid on the entire bid document.
* Structural and Steel Products is recommended as the best evaluated bid. Structural and Steel Products was also the supplier for the past fixed price contract to provided traffic signal poles.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* This contract will establish a fixed unit price for individual traffic signal poles.
* The attached bid tabulation provides those unit prices.
* Purchasing components of a traffic signal, such as traffic signal poles, from the material supplier typically reduces the price by 20 percent.
