RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Resolution authorizes a contract amendment with Kennedy Consulting, Ltd. (KCI) to provide additional engineering services related to the Alma Road and Silverado Trail project, for a revised fee not to exceed $300,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· An Engineering Services Agreement with KCI was authorized by City Council on June 7, 2011, for an amount not to exceed $250,000. The contract amount was increased to $275,000 for additional services related to storm drain design on September 20, 2011.
· KCI has developed construction plans for the Alma Road and Silverado Trail project, in accordance with the design contract and current City design guidelines.
· The project is scheduled for completion prior to the opening of Comstock Elementary (FISD) in August.
· The project schedule is contingent upon a clear ROW for construction operations and staff is currently negotiating the acquisition of right-of-way necessary for the project.
· The property at the southeast corner of Alma Road and Silverado Trail has a building with a conditioned space that has been finished out with a kitchen, restroom and office space for the operation of the business.
· This building will be impacted by the current design and will need to be removed and a new building will need to be constructed as a replacement building in order to complete the project as designed.
