ITEM SUMMARY:

This Ordinance increases expenditures of $38,646 in the 2010-2011 Grants Budget. The North Central Texas Council of Governments’ $38,646 Clean Fleet North Texas Grant will be used to convert three fleet Priuses to combustion-electric plug-in hybrids.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On October 22, 2010, the City of McKinney submitted a grant application to the North Central Texas Council of Governments as part of their 2010 Call for Grant Applications for the Clean Fleet North Texas Program.

The City received a Notice to Approve (attached), effective February 1, 2011. This document gives the City the ability begin invoicing expenditures related to the conversions for reimbursement up to the full amount of the grant - $38,646.

The City based its grant request on a quote from the company doing the largest number of conversions here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as well as some other Texas cities.

The twenty-percent matching requirement of the grant will be met by applying the residual value of the three vehicles.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

The Grants Fund will be increased by $38,646.
