RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The City desires to renew its contingent fee contract with the law firm of Abernathy, Roeder, Boyd & Hullett, P.C., for the collection of delinquent property taxes.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Abernathy, Roeder, Boyd & Hullett, P.C. have represented the City in the collection of delinquent taxes for over four (4) years.

                     Under the contingent fee contract, Abernathy, Roeder, Boyd & Hullett, P.C. will be paid the amount of the percentage-based collection fee recovered from the debtors, with no expense to the City or its taxpayers.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The City will have no financial obligation under the contingency fee agreement.

                     The Texas Government Code requires special findings and notice for cities entering into contingent fee arrangements with attorneys suing on their behalf.
