RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the proposed resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* With the new additions of the PSA facility and the McKinney Aquatics and Fitness Center there is a need to update the master plan of Gabe Nesbitt Community Park.

* The master plan update is intended to provide guidance for future projects within the park.

* This plan update addresses:

o Additional parking and roadway expansion necessary to support current and future expansion to the facilities.
o Internal trail system including a perimeter loop of 2.25 miles.
o Library expansion and impact to the park.
o The Courts Tennis Center expansion including additional courts and stadium court.
o Additional park amenities that include gathering spaces, an event space, playgrounds, pavilions, open space, practice areas, locations for public art, additional restrooms, etc.
o Enhanced landscaping at entrances and throughout the park and added screening.

* Feedback that was received during the October 5th City Council work session included converting the two clay tennis courts to hard surface and looking at the best use of the McKinney Green Garden. The Plan now reflects all hard surface courts and the views into the garden area have been opened up with a designation for public art and/or possible trail head.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* RVI/NJB is under contract for design services.
