ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract and all necessary change orders with Reliable Paving, Inc., for the Construction of the Virginia Parkway Lanes 5 & 6 (Custer Road to Virginia Parklands) Project (ST1839) for a total contract amount not to exceed $3,200,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Jacobs Engineering, Inc. prepared the construction plans for the Virginia Parkway Lanes 5 & 6 (Custer Road to Virginia Parklands) Project ST1839.
* Virginia Parkway is currently a four-lane divided arterial from Custer Rd to Virginia Parklands Blvd.
* Virginia Pkwy is currently identified as a six-lane divided major arterial (M6D Classification) in the adopted Master Thoroughfare Plan.
* This project will include the widening of Virginia Parkway (within the existing median) from four lanes to six lanes from approximately 500 feet west of Custer Rd to Virginia Parklands Blvd (approximately 5,300 feet total project length). It will also include intersection capacity improvements at the intersection of Virginia Parkway and Custer Road (EB/WB dual left-turns and EB/WB right-turn lanes), and dedicated westbound right turn lanes at Cranbury Ln, Virginia Parklands Blvd, and St. Gabriel Way.
* Existing median trees and landscaping which are impacted by widening will be replaced and new landscaping will be installed.
