RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                      

                     Approval of Application and Acceptance of the U.S. Department of Justice 2011 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), if awarded.

                     Agreement to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Collin County and the City of Plano for disbursement of JAG funds.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The JAG provides funds to assist in the enhancement of public safety and crime reduction in the City of McKinney.

                     Funds will be used to purchase equipment for the Intelligence and Information Unit.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The grant is issued by the U.S. Department of Justice to enable local law enforcement agencies to purchase needed equipment

                     The grant funds will be shared by the City of McKinney, Collin County,  and the City of Plano

                     Agency funding is determined by the Department of Justice based on FBI Crime Data and city population estimates

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The grant will provide $15,770

                     No match is required, however, the department anticipates providing certain expenditures to purchase additional needed equipment
