ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc. (FNI), to provide consulting engineering services for the design of Intersection Improvements to Custer Road at Stonebridge and Community Avenue at Wilmeth Road for an amount not to exceed $115,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Construction of this project will alleviate traffic congestion at these two intersections.
* FNI submitted a response to RFQ 13-09 for Minor Roadway Design. They were one of ten firms shortlisted by City Council on February 5, 2013.
* FNI was selected for this project based on their experience with similar projects and their performance on other City of McKinney projects.
* FNI submitted a proposal for the design of the project in the amount of $93,820.
* The estimated construction cost of the project is $450,000.
* The fee for basic services is $50,620 (11.2% of the construction cost) and the fee for special services is $43,200 (9.6 % of the construction cost).
* Design of this project is anticipated to take six months to complete. Construction is anticipated to begin in June 2015 and to be complete by August 2015.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a design contract and any necessary supplemental agreements with Freese and Nichols, Inc., for an amount not to exceed $115,000.
