ITEM SUMMARY:
• On February 22, 2016, City Council met and discussed the 2016 Goals and Strategies
• On January 28, 2016, the City Council met in a Strategic Planning session to discuss and establish 2016 Council Goals and Strategies
• Staff has prepared draft strategies to address each of the six goals.
• The City Council selected the following as the top 5 Big Ideas for 2016:
1. Better Communication with the Public
a. Airport
b. Social Media
c. Intergovernmental agencies
2. Retail Center at U.S. 75 and FM 543
3. Municipal Complex and downtown parking
4. Improving Highway 5 from Industrial to 380
5. Modifying Incentives and Policies
a. Class A office space
b. Regional incentives
c. Proactive approach on retail development
d. Infrastructure - creating a sense of place
