RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of the Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Ordinance renames Bridgewater Drive within the Stonebridge Community of Newport Village to Stillwater Drive.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· There are two streets within McKinney with the name Bridgewater Drive. One is within the Stonebridge Community of Newport Village and the other is within the Valor Pointe at Westridge.
· Emergency Services have expressed concern about the potential confusion associated with two separate roadways bearing the same name. They have requested one roadway be renamed.
· Both roadways of Bridgewater Drive have been platted with their subdivision. A platted roadway requires an Ordinance to change its name.
· Bridgewater Drive within Valor Point at Westridge has homes that address on it, but the Bridgewater Drive within Newport Village does not. Because of this, staff recommends changing the name of the street within Newport Village
· Staff worked with the Stonebridge Ranch HOA (RTI/Community Management) to determine a new name for the street. Staff concurs with the recommendation of Stonebridge Ranch HOA to rename Bridgewater Drive between Silverlake Road and Windsor Drive to Stillwater Drive within Newport Village.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· Funds for this item are available in the operating budget of the Public Works Department.
