ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes the purchase of a Bio Infectious Disease Control Ambulance.
• The Fire Department responds to the current public health emergency of COVID-19 related incidents. Ambulances must be decontaminated prior to being placed back in service to eliminate risk of inadvertent contamination and spread of COVID-19.
• The Fire Department repurposed one reserve ambulance to respond and transport COVID-19 presumed positive patients.
• The Fire Department wishes to purchase an ambulance fitted with infection control features to decrease decontamination time so the unit may return to service in an expedited manner.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Council received funds from the CARES Act to assist with response and mitigation of impact from the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Product is available for delivery.
• The County has received federal funding from the Department of the Treasury, under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
• The County allocated $10.1M to the City of McKinney.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The total overall cost for the purchase of one ambulance with infection control features and associated equipment and supplies is $450,000.00.
• The cost for a 2019 Braun F450 ambulance is $303,315.00
• The capital equipment needed to outfit the ambulance total is $124,000.00
