ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Odysseus Chamber Orchestra is a professional orchestra that stages productions in McKinney and Frisco.

                     Funding provided to Odysseus Chamber Orchestra’s string quartet for an education tour of presentations at McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney North High School, Evans Middle School and Ford Middle School.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Odysseus Chamber Orchestra was founded by Jason Lim, Artistic Director, in 2012.  The Orchestra won 3rd place in the American Prize competition in 2013 and 2015 and 2nd place in 2014.  The American Prize is a national organization that conducts annual competitions in the performing arts in various categories including professional orchestras, community orchestras, college and university orchestras, conducting and composing, and other categories.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     On October 6, 2015, Resolution #15-944, the City Council allocated $15,000 to the McKinney Arts Commission to pay for Special Projects.

                     The $1,000 Odysseus Educational Outreach Project will be paid from this fund leaving a balance of $11,500.
