RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Resolution

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes an amendment to the existing professional services contract with Don Jackson Construction (DJC) Company related to the design and construction of the Airport Transient Hangar located at McKinney National Airport for a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) in an amount not to exceed $1,649,601, which includes previous amounts authorized. This amount is $169,000 over the original estimates.
* There were several key factors contributing to the overage:
o Geo Technical Services found soil conditions extremely poor at the airport. Extensive soil and foundation work have to be completed to support hangar.
o Foam Fire suppressing/ differing interpretations of governing fire codes and hangar designations require a foam suppression system.
o Utility and Roadwork installed will provide savings for future hangar development.
* A Design / Build contract for preconstruction services only, including a not to exceed amount of $85,000, with the firm of Don Jackson Construction Company was authorized by City Council on November 18, 2014.
