ITEM SUMMARY:
• The 2022 DFW Series will include 17 off-road cycling events hosted at Erwin Park in McKinney.
• Past events have attracted over 1,800 people, 84% from outside of McKinney.
• Registration fee for riders aged 14 and older is $25. Riders under age 14 can register at no cost.
• There is no fee for spectators.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• DFW Series, LLC is a for profit organization whose mission is to provide a fun, family fitness opportunity that is local, accessible and developmental for youth athletes.
• The DFW Series began in 2013 at Erwin Park in McKinney and has grown to see a weekly attendance of 200 visitors per week as of summer 2021.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 22 is $200,000, $100,000 for Cycle I applicants, and $100,000 for Cycle II applicants.
• DFW Series has not received previous Promotional and Community Event grants.
