RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:      
·      Approval of Resolution for acceptance and implementation of grant award.
 
ITEM SUMMARY:  
·      The UASI program focuses on enhancing regional security preparedness, including first aid training, in major metropolitan areas.
·      Staff requests approval to accept and implement grant award of $105,857.64 in UASI grant funding to purchase a specialty paramedic response vehicle for the Fire Department's Community Healthcare Program.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  
·      The Community Healthcare Program, through the Fire Department, provides proactive patient visitation and community education programs in order to reduce ambulance calls and unnecessary trips to the emergency room.  
·      The advanced training of the firefighter paramedics will allow them to respond to mass casualty events and provide emergency patient intervention and assessment.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:  
·      The grant will provide $105,857.64 for the purchase of a specialty paramedic response vehicle.
·      There is no match requirement.
