ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     McKinney Community Development Corporation will conduct a public hearing on a project grant application submitted by Hester Eats, LLC for $50,000 to install a fire suppression system at Hamm’s Meat Market in Downtown McKinney.

                     The improvements are necessary to keep the building up to date with code requirements.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Hamm’s Meat Market is a family-owned and locally-sourced butcher shop, market, and lunch destination.

                     Hamm’s has been a staple in food service in McKinney since 1954.

                     Known for their spiral hams, the market has expanded their offerings to include a lunch menu and small dining room.

                     Future plans include patio seating and full scale lunch operations.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     Funds allocated for MCDC Retail Development Infrastructure Grants total $300,000 for FY24.

                     Maximum for any single award is $50,000.

                     This is the first time Hester Eats, LLC has requested funding from MCDC.

                     The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 501.103 of the Texas Local Government Code.
