RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Elect members to serve in the positions of Board Chair and Vice Chair

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The board will elect a Chair and Vice Chair to serve a one-year term, effective January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

 

                     Since the last TIRZ #2 meeting on February 6, 2018, the terms of the previous Chair (former City Council Member Chuck Branch) and Vice Chair (City Council Member La’Shadion Shemwell) have expired.

 

                     Due to the absence of board officers, Mayor George Fuller will conduct the meeting proceedings.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     TIRZ #2 Bylaws state, “Each year the City Council shall annually designate one (1) member of the Board of Directors to serve as chairman for a one (1)-year term that begins on January 1 of the following year. The Board of Directors shall elect from its members a vice chairman to preside in the absence of the chairman or when there is a vacancy in the office of chairman.  The Board of Directors may elect other officers as it considers appropriate.”

 

                     The City of McKinney Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Number Two was created on September 21, 2010, with the approval of Ordinance Number 2010-09-035; and subsequent amendments: Ord. No. 2010-10-041, Ord. No. 2011-04-17, and Ord. No. 2017-01-011.
