RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Elect members to serve in the positions of Board Chair and Vice Chair
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The board will elect a Chair and Vice Chair to serve a one-year term, effective January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
• Since the last TIRZ #2 meeting on February 6, 2018, the terms of the previous Chair (former City Council Member Chuck Branch) and Vice Chair (City Council Member La’Shadion Shemwell) have expired.
• Due to the absence of board officers, Mayor George Fuller will conduct the meeting proceedings.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• TIRZ #2 Bylaws state, “Each year the City Council shall annually designate one (1) member of the Board of Directors to serve as chairman for a one (1)-year term that begins on January 1 of the following year. The Board of Directors shall elect from its members a vice chairman to preside in the absence of the chairman or when there is a vacancy in the office of chairman. The Board of Directors may elect other officers as it considers appropriate.”
• The City of McKinney Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Number Two was created on September 21, 2010, with the approval of Ordinance Number 2010-09-035; and subsequent amendments: Ord. No. 2010-10-041, Ord. No. 2011-04-17, and Ord. No. 2017-01-011.
