ITEM SUMMARY:
·      This Ordinance will establish a speed limit of 40 mph on Westridge Boulevard from Eden Drive to Coit Road.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
·      Construction of South two lanes of Westridge Boulevard has been completed between Eden Drive and Coit Road; therefore, a speed limit needs to be established along this section.
·      When developing a recommendation for a speed limit, factors to be considered include:
o      The design speed
o      The 85th percentile speed
o      The existing speed limit on adjacent sections of the same roadway
·      A design speed of 45 mph was used for this section of Westridge Boulevard.
·      A speed study was conducted in January, 2013, shows the 85th percentile speed  for eastbound traffic is 46 mph and 44 mph for the westbound traffic.
·      The existing speed limit on Westridge Boulevard from Custer Road to Eden Drive is 40 mph.
·      Establishing the speed limit on Westridge Boulevard from Eden Drive to Coit Road at 40 mph will provide a consistent speed limit along the entire length of this roadway.
