* Approval of the Ordinance
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Ordinance will establish a speed limit on Virginia Parkway of 40 mph from 100 feet west of Jordan Road to1200 feet west of Hardin Boulevard.
* This Ordinance will move the following roadways to Section 62-117 of the Code of Ordinances:
?? Virginia Parkway from US 75 to 1200 feet west of the Hardin Boulevard, a speed limit of 40mph.
? Louisiana St from US 75 to a point 100 feet east of Graves Street, a speed limit of 35 mph.
? Virginia Street from US 75 to a point 100 feet west of Graves Street, a speed limit of 35mph.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) removed Virginia Parkway between US 75 to 1200 feet west of the Hardin Boulevard from their roadway system. This roadway was known as FM 3038.
* TxDOT had the speed limit on Virginia Parkway (FM 3038) set at 45 mph from 100 feet west of Jordan Road to 1200 feet west of the Hardin Boulevard.
* TxDOT had set the speed limit on the remainder of Virginia Parkway (FM 3038) from US 75 to 100 feet west of Jordan Road at 40 mph. The City of McKinney continued the 40 mph speed limit on Virginia Parkway from 1200 feet west of the Hardin Boulevard to Independence Parkway.
