RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Accept loan of new Ken Toki artwork for John and Judy Gay Library
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The artwork, entitled “Bellas Artes”, will replace another Toki artwork currently on loan at the John and Judy Gay Library.
• The artwork loan agreement is attached.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• This work has hung at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Fukuoka Art Museum in Japan.
• Mr. Toki has been a resident of McKinney, Texas, since 2008.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The artwork is valued at approximately $20,000.
• There is no additional cost to the City to insure the artwork.
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
• The McKinney Arts Commission, at its January 21, 2016 meeting, recommended acceptance of the artwork loan.
