Platinum Scenic City Presentation

McKinney has earned the designation of a Platinum Scenic City Certification issued by the Scenic City Certification Program of Scenic Texas.
McKinney is the first city to receive the Platinum designation after just the first application, and we are one of just six cities to earn a new designation this year. The entire program lists 42 total cities in Texas, and just 5 cities that have earned the Platinum level of the award. The certification is good for five years (2013-2018).
The process includes a very thorough review of infrastructure programs for public roadways and public spaces. McKinney was especially recognized for:
· Strong standards to enhance the visual character of its streetscapes, including sign regulation, landscaping and lighting standards
· Emphasis on establishing and protecting parks, trails and open spaces
· Historic preservation program
· Consistent design standards throughout the city
The other five Platinum award cities in Texas are as follows:
