RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution for application submission and acceptance, if awarded, for the FY17 TXDOT Comprehensive STEP grant.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The FY17 STEP grant application is due January 7, 2016.

                     The STEP grant program pays 80% of the overtime cost for traffic officers to increase enforcement and adjudication of traffic related safety laws.

                     The City is applying for grant funding to pay 80% of the cost of 1850 hours of overtime for traffic enforcement and 70 hours of administration and public education.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The grant is funded by the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT).

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The total amount of the program is $116,056.39.  The grant application is for $91,224.96 and the match is $24,831.43, which is the value of the OT benefits provided to the officers by the City.
