RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Resolution revises and restates Resolution 2012-04-049R (approved by the City Council on April 17, 2012) establishing the summer hours for the following schools holding summer school in 2012.
o Boyd High School
o Cockrill Middle School
o Malvern Elementary School
o Lawson early Childhood Center

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· On April 18, 2012, after the City Council approved Resolution 2012-04-049R setting summer school hours, McKinney ISD staff requested a revision to the times and dates for the Lawson Early Childhood Center summer session. The other school summer sessions will remain unchanged.
· The revised summer session for Lawson Early Childhood Center will begin June 6, 2012 and end June 29, 2012 and will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Lawson Early Childhood Center utilizes the Slaughter Elementary School Zone.
· The previously approved Resolution had the Lawson Early Childhood Center summer session beginning June 11 2012 and ending July 26, 2012. School would have been held from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
· The reduced speed limit in the school zones will be effective beginning 45 minutes before the beginning of school for the day and end 15 minute after the beginning of school.
· The reduced speed limit in the school zone will be effective beginning 15 minutes before the dismissal of school for the day and end 45 minutes after the dismissal of school.
· In 2003, the City Council adopted an Ordinance that provides for the enforcement of the reduced speed zones for the summer school.
