ITEM SUMMARY:
• Teatro Dallas was seeking a $5,000 grant funding for their “Bongo Talks” performances. There will be three performances for elementary youth: October, 2018 at Caldwell Elementary School; November, 2018 at McNeil Elementary School; March, 2019 at Old Settlers Recreation Center.
• The theme of the show is the importance of intuition, how to recognize it, and how to use it for making decisions in challenging situations.
• Following the performance, children will be able to ask questions about the process of creating a play, being an artist, and general theatre questions.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Outreach Grants provide financial assistance for the costs associated with a single project, or if the applicant is applying for the first time.
• Per Arts Grants Guidelines, Outreach Grants can pay up to 50% of eligible project expenses, not to exceed $3,000.
• Following discussion at the July 19, 2018 McKinney Arts Commission meeting, Teatro Dallas was awarded a $3,000 Outreach Grant for “Bongo Talks”.
• Commissioners requested feedback as to whether Teatro Dallas could present the programs with the reduced grant award.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funding will come from the Outreach Grant budget for 2018-2019.
