RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Authorize the contract extension
ITEM SUMMARY:
· Usrey has proven to provide a high-quality audit and the Human Resources Director services and the City Manager's Office recommends extending the existing contract for one year with a one year contract extension option to be approved by the City Manager.
· The Usrey and Associates, Inc. ("Usrey") initial contract was for an indeterminate period but contemplated a six to nine month engagement.
· Usrey has initiated a full scale audit of Human Resources policies, procedures, and operation. Additional time will be required to complete this effort and ensure compliance with best practices and State and Federal law. She also will be developing staff and programs to help the department better support the City during the expected growth of the upcoming years.
· Usrey has the knowledge, skills, and abilities to complete this audit and effect necessary changes accordingly while maintaining day to day operations as the department's director.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· The initial contract with Usrey and Associates, Inc. was executed April 8, 2014.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· Costs are estimated at $156,000 annually and are available in the Human Resources Special Contract account.
