RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approve Resolution for Community Grants Advisory Commission recommendation to de-obligate $4,642.86 that was allocated to the McKinney Fire Department by Council on December 17, 2013, and award the $4,642.86 in funding to the non-profit agency, 3E McKinney for the "Bridges Out of Poverty" Program.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* The City of McKinney's Fire Department was awarded $4,642.86 in Community Support Grant funding for the purpose of purchasing an I-Stat distribution blood analyzer system. The equipment allowed the department's Community Healthcare Program to secure real-time, lab quality results while in the field, thereby leading to enhanced quality of care and improved program efficiency. The equipment was not funded by the General Fund. Due to success of the new program, the Department received a recent donation to cover the equipment.

* Staff recommended funding for the Fire Department to be de-obligated for the current fiscal year. The Community Grants Advisory Commission (CGAC) met on April 16, 2014 and voted to de-obligate funding to the McKinney Fire Department and reallocate the amount of $4,642.86 to the organization, 3E McKinney for the community-wide" Bridges Out of Poverty" program. The Bridges Out of Poverty program is a part of the initiative to serve together to use education and community collaboration to help employers, agencies, and individuals address widening disparities reduce poverty in a comprehensive approach.
