RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approve the proposed amendments.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Staff is proposing to modify Chapter 138 (Sexually Oriented Businesses) of the Code of Ordinances specifically pertaining to the definitions of an “adult bookstore or adult video store.” The purpose of this amendment is to clarify which business types constitute an adult bookstore or adult video store.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The current definition for an adult bookstore or adult video store has been in place since August of 1989.

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
• Modifications to Section 138 of the Code of Ordinance do not require consideration by any board or commission prior to City Council action. As such, no consideration by a board or commission took place.
